Please!

Henry looks like a little boy with his new haircut. There is no denying it. He walks and runs and plays like a little boy, too. Recently he's discovered the joys of slides, the sand box, swings, playing "chase", saying "No!" puckishly, and dancing. Man, his dancing is awesome. He has this move with his arms that is too groovy to be believed.

He has gotten very good at climbing out of bed. He knows how to go backside-first over the edge and slide down slowly until his feet touch the ground. This afternoon he repeatedly opened the bathroom door - by turning the knob - to get to Daddy.

He can pick up the correct toys as we name them. He is often able to touch the appropriate animal as we name it in his favorite books and apps.

He has long raised a single eyebrow for expression. Now he's added an assortment of face scrunches and prolonged belly laughs. He likes to see babies in books and declares, "Baby!" when he sees his own image.

But our delight tonight was that after standing and pointing at the cabinet that he knows conceals his All-Time-Favorite-Treat-Ever! (yogurt covered raisins) We told Henry to say, "Please." He was unsure, he resisted. And then he let forth a chorus of, "Please. Please. Please." A new era of cause and effect, courtesy and accountability is ushered in in our house. That's out little boy.

*gasp*
